Amazing performance of "Carol of the Bells"
It's Crimmace time, y'all. My favorite Christmas song is "Carol of the Bells". (Least favorite: Little Drummer Boy. Blah.)I'm not sure why I like it so much--it's definitely the most pugilistic sounding Christmas song, though. Probably the closest non-Christmas analogue is Clint Mansell's "Lux Aeterna" from Requiem For A Dream, which was also used in some of the Lord Of The Rings trailers. The melody for Carol of the Bells comes from a Ukrainian folk song, and was translated (stolen) into English relatively recently, in 1936. Thanks, wikipedia. You make me look smart!
In any case, check out this amazing arrangement of Carol of the Bells by Joseph Dang. It's seven minutes, but it will probably be the best video you watch today.
