Fire in the hills
At around five o'clock, my cell phone rang. A friend was calling to let me know that the hills behind my apartment were burning.
Even though the occasional helicopter passes overhead, it seems like the fire is mostly under control, thanks to favorable wind conditions.

Between 5:30PM and 7:00PM it was quite a spectacle. There were at least 7 large fire engines parked in the street between your complex and the old K-Mart.
The truly amazing thing was how fast that fire moved and spread. It went from a small patch of flames on the hill next to the 101 to a fire that spanned several ridgelines in a matter of 30 minutes.
Man, seeing the pictures makes it seem a lot more intense than just hearing your description over the phone.
